This position paper begins by presenting the context in which pesticides and veterinary drugs are used in countries in the Global South: increased consumption, weak market regulation, and alarming conditions surrounding the use of these dangerous products. The conclusion is clear: the consequences for human health and ecosystems are dramatic.
AVSF sets out a series of recommendations to European public authorities and Southern countries to reduce or even eliminate the use of these products and improve their management. Agroecological transitions and the One Health approach are proving to be effective levers for achieving these objectives.
